Has all this time really gone by?  I wanted to keep this a regularly updated page, but I guess I failed pretty massive!  The site itself has been growing continually, with lots of Rock, Travel, and… Sports photographs.  Yeah, a venture into the world of sports photography materialized when I shot FCBarcelona’s New York City tour this past August.  It was my first time shooting a sports event.  It was also my first time (apart from a brief practice session 5 days earlier) using a digital SLR, a ‘heavy’ adventure all of it’s own.   I am a diehard proponent of 35mm black & white photography; my mission is to save it from oblivion, in the advent of the Digital Age.  Despite this, I accepted the offer from a friend to lend me his Canon 30D.  I figured I would great for colour and my Nikon F100 for the B&W shots.  There was a definite advantage using the Canon as it came with a longer, albeit slower lens, which would allow for close-ups.  My “baby”, the AF Nikkor 80-200mm F2.8D was certainly fast enough, but lacked some length.  So I trudged off to the Big Apple with two sets of gear on my back, a mother-load!  Two cameras were essential in any case, but two different brands meant double in lenses and other stuff.  But… of course it was well worth it.  What is not gained by a little, or should I say, a lot of pain?  My motto is to “experience” travel, life, adventures…  if it was easy, it would not be worth it, to me.  That’s just the way I am.

I had already been in NY in March, to see, and shoot the Pogues on a reunion tour.  Although I had photographed everyone in the band in solo projects, I had never seen the Pogues together in their heyday.  It was great!  I was given passes to shoot the four shows at the Nokia at Times Square – the usual 3-4 first songs in the pit.  The last night though, I was given special permission from the band to shoot the last two numbers, Fairytale of New York and Fiesta.  It was unbelievable…  This was the last breath, the last note…

More changes.  Keeping with the original design, I have tried to improve some of the current pages.  Some of them were too long to scroll through and I have divided them into smaller sections.  I have now added the photos from the interview that Jari-Pekka Laition-Ramone did with Dez Cadena for his upcoming tribute book to Johnny Ramone.  You can also see some of my FC Barcelona photos – my feeble venture into sports photography.  I was in Barcelona this past April and went to a team practice with my brother, a HUGE fan of our “home team”.  It was real fun to be there, with camera and film on hand, but frustrating that I could not shoot from the press area.  I made do for the most part with a small “hole” I found in the mesh fence.  I also realized that at least a 300mm lens would be needed to get any real action and close-up shots like the pros do.  Who knows, something new to pursue?

Just added a much-needed NEWS section to the site.  I am continually updating new photos to the BANDS section and thought it would be a good idea to let you know any changes made.

One of the latest additions is Priestess, from their recent show with Motorhead at Metropolis, Montreal.  It was a highly energetic gig, both bands awing the audience with their LOUD music.  The Motorhead photos will be scanned and posted real soon.

The other new item on the site is a full “documentary” of Joey Ramone’s Birthday Bash at Irving Plaza this past May 19th.  Joey passed away of Lymphoma cancer in 2001 and his family holds a yearly benefit/bash on his birthday, with all proceeds going to research.  A slew of bands and “friends” of Joey gather to make up for a memorable evening of entertainment.  Take a look at the photos; you’ll see that his motto for FUN has not gone astray.

This coming July, I will be participating in a Punk art show in Boston, being curated by my friend, and fellow photographer John Nikolai.  I will post details as I get them, but anyone in the area should not miss it – a good mix of eclectic minds coming together is sure to delight and intrigue!
