Interview With Dez Cadena

On May 20th, 2005, Jari-Pekka Laitio-Ramone met up with Dez Cadena at Manitoba’s in New York’s East Village to do an interview for his upcoming book on Johnny Ramone.  The following are a group of photos from that encounter, my contribution.  I see and speak with my lens.

Jari is a Finish author and journalist, with a passion for music.  He has written two books to remember and honour his heroes, Joey and Dee Dee Ramone who passed away in 2001 and 2002 respectively - HEAVEN NEEDED A LEAD SINGER:
FANS REMEMBER JOEY RAMONE
and ROCK IN PEACE:  DEE DEE AND JOEY RAMONE

With a unique perspective, that of compiling interviews, quotes, photos, and much more, from friends, fans, and musicians, he has put together some fantastic memories.  He is now starting to work on a tribute book to Johnny who passed away last September in Los Angeles.  While in New York this May to attend the annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash, Jari worked on a slew of interviews, including this one.

Dez talked about the Ramones, their extensive influence and contribution to punk bands from the ‘70s to the present and added his recollections of friendship with Dee Dee.  He also spoke at length about his own musical background, his days with Black Flag, to his present stint as guitarist with the Misfits.
